PARIS DISCOVERY for Boys and Girls aged 7-17
The city of Paris and its surroundings offer unparalleled opportunities to discover the wealth of French history and culture. It is not surprising, however, that museums and tours aimed for adults often fail to excite children. Our Paris Discovery program has been specifically designed for youth sensibilities and we believe it will help children appreciate and see France's capital in a whole new light. Led by American educators living in Paris, we have carefully put together a full week of fun and enriching discovery!
Each day, your child will meet our staff at Paris' convenient Porte de Maillot at 9AM to set off for the day's exploration.
The first day, with the theme "
The Paris Story", will feature an age-appropriate and engaging exploration of one of the greatest cities on earth. Moving from Right Bank neighborhoods such as Opera and Montmartre to Left Bank quartiers like Montparnasse and the Champs de Mars, your child should bring comfortable shoes and a spirit of adventure!
The second day, "
The Seine and Paris Underground" will take in the glorious sites along one Europe's most scenic stretches, with a variety of magical stops, photography lessons and enthralling history along this special river. We will also be bringing alive the mystery of subterranean Paris with a number of exciting stops such as the Vincennes dungeon and the famous catacombs. While there may be a few sights that your child has seen before, they will hear stories that will bring the city alive and forever change the way they see Paris!
On Day Three, "
Safari Chateau", we take a chartered bus from Paris' Porte Maillot to the magnificent grounds of the
Chateau de Thoiry near Paris. A site unlike any other in Europe, we will explore the life and habits of the exotic wild animals roaming free in the African, and North and South American Animal Reserves. Girafes, elephants, lions, zebras, bears, antilopes will welcome you as you ride through the park and a special glass tunnel will even bring you under the tigers' den. We will also be discovering the Chateau's incredible labyrinth, botanical gardens and castle…not to be missed!
Day Four, "
Fun and Games in Chantilly", we will combine a half-day of games and activities at the Domaine de Lassy's beautiful recreational facility in the Val d'Oise with an exploration of one of the most beautiful and under-appreciated Castles in France... the
Chateau de Chantilly. On this day, students should be sure to bring swimsuit as the Domaine features a fantastic (optional) indoor and outdoor swimming pool and waterslide as well!
Day Five, "
Paris Amusement", will combine a full day of fun rides and amusement at Paris' famed
Jardin d'Acclimation with a end-of-the week celebration featuring organized games in the Bois de Boulogne. Together with roller coasters, carousels, and other exciting rides for all ages, kids may also have the opportunity to enjoy puppet theater, mini golf, animals, birds and a circus show.
Program costs include lunch, daily snack, transportation and admission costs, guides and all other program costs. At the end of each day, your child will be ready for pick-up at Paris' Porte Maillot at 5PM after a full day of excitement, fun and exercise…
